Mary has been practicing yoga for a couple of decades, starting out with online classes, which led to a 200 hour YA certification with Karin Carlson at Return Yoga in 2016. Her zeal for clarity in asana (poses) led her to the Iyengar method, which she continues to study and practice. BKS Iyengar called yoga asana “meditation in action.” Her classes are designed to workshop related poses with the use of many yoga props, including the wall, to build proper alignment and allow for deeper study within and without. She always encourages questions within class and enjoys seeing students find intelligence in their actions. Her instruction supports the integrity of each pose with a heaping helping of humor, as well as a firm foundation in the Yoga Sutras of Patanjali. Mary leads Sutra studies twice a year at Shanti.
